KOLBE RICKS

Kolbe Ricks is an educator, researcher, and former journalist with over a decade of experience in public education. She has taught English Language Arts, Advanced Placement courses, AVID, and dual-enrollment rhetoric at both secondary and postsecondary levels.
Her work centers on culturally responsive instruction, educational equity, and improving outcomes in advanced academic programs. In addition to teaching, Kolbe has served as an AP Program Lead, instructional coach, and mentor to new educators.
She holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with a research focus on cultural capital and AP access, and regularly presents at conferences and development events for teachers, instructional leaders, and school administrators.

Summary:
My doctoral research examines how cultural capital influences student success in AP programs and what interventions can help bridge equity gaps in advanced academic pathways. Using Design-Based Implementation Research (DBIR), I explored strategies that increase accessibility, improve student outcomes, and promote inclusive excellence in AP coursework.
